​Hey Secret Friends!

My name is Laura Ivitza and food has been a central part of my family life. I developed a passion for baking at a young age, inspired by watching my family - fostering connection and gratitude as a way to show love, especially when using local ingredients. After gaining experience in a bakery during high school and a restaurant during my gap year, I pursued formal training in Baking and Pastry Arts Management at George Brown, graduating in 2012. I've been working in the industry ever since.

Years later my Husband and I had moved into a cute little neighborhood by the bluffs. We closed the sale on our house the same day the Pandemic restrictions set in. I wanted to bake to keep busy, and feed my family and that’s all it was. Until I started to meet all my amazing neighbours! Growing up Mennonite, it has always been the norm to make a big batch of food and share it with friends, family, neighbors and even just acquaintances. Word of mouth spread and the batches of baked goods for my family grew to spread warmth and joy throughout the neighbourhood. I never intended it to be a business and therefore it was a Clandestine operation - hence the name Secret Baker! It still is somewhat "secret" but I'd love to delight you with my bakes more for connection and therapy than anything (and to support my young family a little along the way).
